The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the process of Initiation into the Roman Catholic Church faith community as it presently celebrates the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation).

Confirmation is celebrated in the 9th year of school.  The process begins in January of 8th Grade with a meeting of all the parents followed by an Enrollment Mass for Candidates and parents.  The Candidates are given 8 months to complete eight scriptural-based work packets, a community service component, a Living the Beatitudes project, an interview and a retreat.  Upon completion of the process, the Candidate is eligible to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall.

A Special Note to Parents:  No matter how actively or passively you have promoted your child's faith development and religious education, you have lived with them, endured some difficult times with them, enjoyed them, and loved them day in and day out.  Now you have come to a different turn in the road, a time for decision making.  The decision to whether they will be confirmed or not is up to them.  Will they make a commitment to the church?  Will they recognize and celebrate the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives?  The decision is theirs.  We cannot force a sacrament on anyone - especially someone who has reached the age of reason.

We want your child to choose to participate in confirmation preparation for themselves.  We want them to celebrate a reality when they come to receive this sacrament - the reality that they see themselves as active, gifted members of the Catholic Church who are responding to an invitation to confirm their baptismal commitment.  Please call (203-707-0222) or email Fr. Michael Dunn for additional information or help in making a decision.
